What is the use of copy control in SD.

Updated May 18, 2018

Copy control is a process by which source data is copied to target data. Copy control is useful tool for the end users who dont have to repeat these control parameters again and again for e.g, from order to delivery and then billing.  Once you have set transaction controls in Order this will be taken as a reference and automatically copied to the subsequently created documents.

Copy control functionlaity is used in the following scenarios.

  •     Delivery creation from Sales order.
  •     Billing document creation from Delivery document.
  •     Billing document creation from the sales order.
  •     Sales document creation with reference to a sales order or billing document or a quote.

The purpose of using copy control is to decide what document type, item category, and schedule line categories can be proposed to the proceding document.
