Block on the Outbound Delivery Level

Updated May 18, 2018

Dear SAP Experts,

I have the following request: When the credit limit is exceeded, we would like to prevent Shipping department from starting the Outbound Delivery.

To achieve this, I was told that we have to set the "block" on the Order level in the configuration. However, this solution blocks also the production and we do not want this.

Is there any other solution?

    Hi Nitesh,

I will tell you how this is solved in my company from my enduser experience ...

We use order entry block only in rare circumstances i.e. if the customer has very bad credit control report or it is in bankruptcy... but not if the CL is exceeded or has some overdues.

In case CL has exceeded, outbound delivery is automatically blocked and picking and packing cannot start. We have this settled trough outbound delivery statuses.

Status A: delivery is ok, no problem with CL, logistic department can start picking and packing

Status B: CL exceeded, only credit control is allowed to release delivery for picking and packing

Status C: delivery is packed, ready for invoicing

Status D: delivery was blocked, but it has been released by credit control department, ready for picking and packing

So, this way block is set in outbound delivery, not in order and has no affect on production. As long outbound delivery has status B, logistic cannot start anything with the goods.

Hope I have helped you a bit.

    BR, Irena
