May I know During installing Oracle s/w we run orainst Root.sh, root.sh why?
What happend in background?
Thanks in advance.
The orainstRoot.sh file will make sure that the RWX permissions are given to the oracle ownre's(the one who installed oracle software)primary group and removes RWX permissions from the others group on /oraInventory directory. and this makes sure that only the primary group of oracle owner has the permissions on /oraInventory.
The root.sh file creates oratab file in etc directory and maintains all the databases information that arae created(only through dbca). It sets ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_OWNER environment variables.
