Can some body, please tell me the difference between coa and chart of account segment.
please share your thoughts .
thanks in advance.
Chart of Accounts is just the list of GL accounts that your company is going to use. To understand chart of account segment we first need to understand the creation of master data and segmentation in master data. When we create a GL account we see various tabs: type/ description, control data, create bank interest tab ..etc. Now when I create the chart of account centrally I do it from FS00, when I want to create just the Chart of account segment I do it from FSP0 and when I want to create the company code segment I do it from FSS0.
Now why would I do this?
Say I have GL account (Rent account ) which is same through out all my company codes, because all companies need to pay rent. But in one company I pay in INR and Other I pay in USD. I can avoid duplication of creation and save my time by copying the Chart of account segment data and create my own company code data in the respective companies with required currencies.
