Missing authorizations after client copy

Updated May 18, 2018

After a client copy of the user master data, authorizations for some users seem to be missing, although the authorizations are entered in the master record. This is because
after the logon, the profiles are expanded in the user master record, the authorizations for a user are kept in the so-called user buffer in main memory. As of Release 3.1G, this user buffer is stored in the database for performance reasons. It is only updated when the user master record has changed. This buffer is not reset during a client copy.

Users that already exist in the target client retain their old authorizations as long as the user master record is not changed in the target client, that is, you need to select "Save" in the user maintenance.

In user maintenance (SU01) under Utilities --> Mass changes --> reset all user buffers, you find a function which resets all user buffers. Execute this function after the client copy. The user buffers in the database are then reset after the first logon.

As of release 3.1H, this function is executed automatically. For the copy profile SAP_USR and/or SAP_USER however only as of Release 4.0B.
