New GL Document Splitting

Updated May 20, 2018

I have activated New GL - Document Splitting and trying to post various transactions to see if docs are splitted correctly. When I post Invoice without any tax, Its splitted correctly, and I did payment also successfully.

I understand if expense and Revenue a/cs, we can give account assignment - Cost Center, thereby it will be inherited to Balance Sheet A/cs.

my doubt is when you purchase an Asset, both the accounts involved are Balance Sheet A/cs, Vendor A/c and Asset. In this case, where we give Account Assignment?

Can you clarify my doubt Document Splitting.

When we post an invoice, say FB60, and one of the accounts is P/L Account, there we can give account assignment, there by account assignment will be inherited to other line item, which is Vendor Account.

But when we purchase any Asset or make an Advance Payment, both the accounts involved are Balance Sheet Accounts. In such a case, where to give Account Assingments?

    Hi Shailesh,

In case of purchase of an asset, Asset is debited (Pkey - 70) aand vendor is credited (P key - 31) and both are Balance sheet acounts.

In case Document splitt is configured for Profit center :

If Asset line item has cost center or business area,Profit center will be derived from cost center master data and post to profit center in asset line item and vendor line item will get Profit center as per document spliiting functionality.

    Document splitting configuration :

We shoould define splitting rule in the following way -

Go to Spro path : Spro --> Finance accounting (new) - general ledger accounting (new) - business transactions -document splitting --> extended document splitting ---> define document splitting rule

Select combination of splitting method 12, business transaction ( vendor) and transaction veriant ( 0001) and double click on "item catgories to be edited " on left side screen and select category 03000 (vendor) and select that row and double click on " Base item cateories" and give new enteirs - category : 07000 - description - fixed asset. and save.

By this config, asset purchage transaction will be splitted and asset and vendor both line items will show profit centers in : general ledger veiw".

    comments are welcome.

Please correct me if iam wrong.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Kiran

Can you pls clarify my doubts re Document Splitting.

    1. Do we have to assign B/S A/cs to Item Category 01000 or specific Item Categories based on Nature of B/S A/cs?

    2. If we are purchasing an Asset through F-90, Both of the accounts involved are B/S A/cs.
Then, How can we input Account Assignments? For this, Do we have to set up any Default Profit Centers?

You do not need to give account assignment. It will pick from asset master. In asset master you need to give cost centre.
