How to use new local languages which are not in SAP standard

In several countries local languages are used which are not setup and translated by SAP.

This note contains information and recommendations how local languages can be setup and used for the business operations.

The following paragraphs contain recommendations how to handle local languages in countries for which a SAP country version exists but no translation of local language.

Please note that in nearly all cases an UNICODE system is mandatory to support the new language and that you should have a WEB AS 6.40 based system or higher.
For selected new languages it is higly recommended to contact SAP for language setup, usage and translation. You can write to globalization@sap.com  .

Malaysia and Indonesia

SAP does not provide a translation for Bahasa Malay and Indonesian languages (and other spoken languages in Malaysia and Indonesia

Recommendation:

- SAP provides the language key MS for Bahasa Malay and ID for
  Bahasa Indomesian since 46C ( LATIN-1 code page)
- Unicode strongly recommended
- You can do own translation, use the language logistics tools and
  setup printing

India

SAP does not provide a translation for local languages spoken in India.
English is still mostly used.

Recommendation:

- Setup  a technical language environment for Hindi, Tamil and
  other scripts in India up from mySAP ERP 2004 / Web AS 6.40 UNICODE
- SAP involvement higly recommended
- Unicode only
- You can do own translation, use the language logistics tools and
  setup printing


Kazakhstan

SAP does not provide a translation for Kazakh language.
Russian is mostly accpeted in Kazakhstan.

Recommendation:

- Setup a technical language environment for Kazakh
  up from mySAP ERP 2004 / Web AS 6.40 UNICODE
- SAP involvement higly recommended
- Unicode only
- You can do own translation, use the language logistics tools and
  setup printing


Phillipines

SAP does not provide a translation for local languages spoken in Phillipines like Tagallo.

Recommendation:

- Setup  a technical language environment for Tagallo
  up from mySAP ERP 2004 / Web AS 6.40 UNICODE
- SAP involvement higly recommended
- Unicode only
- You can do own translation, use the language logistics tools and
  setup printing


Singapore

English is official language in Singapore.
For Simplified Chinese SAP provides  translation in standard.
For other languages in Singapore refer to the recommendation for the country of language origin.


South Africa

SAP does not provide a translation for local languages spoken in South Africa like Afrikaans.
English is official language.

Recommendation:

- For Afrikaans:
  - SAP provides the language key AF for Afrikaans since
     46C ( LATIN-1 codepage)
  - Unicode strongly recommended
   - You can do own translation and use the language logistics tools

- For other languages:
  - Setup  a technical language environment up
    from mySAP ERP 2004 / Web AS 6.40 UNICODE
   - Unicode only
