My computer does blue screens quite a lot. The error is something like kernal inpage error and when it boots back up, the MS error page displayed is that the problem was a hard drive error.
I have two hard drives, system and data. The system drive is about 6 weeks old, the data drive is about 2 weeks old after the previous data drive installed at the same time as the system drive failed terminally.
At that time, whilst there was no second drive in the pc, I did get a couple of blue screens as well.
I have been as many as 6 days without it happening or several times in an hour. Someone else has suggested that this means it's software rather than hardware related. The same person suggested that nortan AV may be causing it. Is this a possibility? I have done a scan disk of the system drive but that didn't solve it.
I am getting really annoyed with it. It is a real pain when it just suddenly reboots itself for no apparent reason. What other causes could there be?
I am tempted just to go out an buy a brand new pc to replace it, but after all the money I spent a few weeks ago on the two hard drives, and extra RAM, it would be a bit of a shame. It is a good PC, quite fast and quite adequate for what I want to use it for (website design, DTP, audio editing and word processing). I have been having one problem or another since August which was the reason for the new hard drives in the first place (the old one was probably failing).
What could be causing this problem? Is it worth replacing the system drive again? I'm just getting gfe up with all the problems.
Thanks for any suggestions.
