2. If you ordered the remote connection data sheet in SAPNet - R/3 Frontend or on SAP Service Marketplace, a message number was assigned to you. (This may also be the case if you ordered the data sheet by phone.) Specify your message number here, so that the data sheet can be assigned to it.
3. Here you must enter the official IP address of the computer on which the communication software SAProuter and the proxy for accessing the SAPNet - R/3 Frontend and SAP Service Marketplace are installed.
This address must be an official and registered IP address. Private address areas, such as
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
cannot be used.
Only for direct ISDN connection with SAP:
If you do not have an official IP address, you can be assigned one by SAP for accessing the SAPNet - R/3 Frontend and SAP Service Marketplace (see Note 50430).
4. Further information about the available types of network connections can be obtained from your local consulting partner (see below) or from the Support Center of your local SAP subsidiary.
ISDN dial-up connection
The prerequisite for the ISDN direct connection is the protocol PPP with CHAP. Use the host name of the router or the gateway as the CHAP user. The password may contain a maximum of 12 characters.
Provider connection
Contact addresses for information and contract closing with provider, 33953 (Europe/Africa), 37946 (Asia without Japan), 39894 (Japan), 102414 (Australia/New Zealand), 40739 (Americas/Canada).
See 126645 "SAP provider remote connection data sheet".
X.25 connection
Due to the required bandwidths, X.25 connections are no longer up-to-date. However, they can be accepted in exceptional cases. Contact your local consulting partner for further information.
Frame Relay connection
Connection using the Internet
You can now receive services and support from SAP on the Internet.
To ensure that the high security requirements necessary for Internet connections are met, you must use one of the two data encryption methods offered by SAP:
SNC (Secure Network Communication) for software encryption (sapserv2)
VPN (Virtual Private Networks) for encryption at hardware level (sapserv1)
You can find detailed information on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/internetconnection.
Inform us of the official IP address of the WAN interface. This address must be an official and registered IP address which your network provider or your system administrator told you.
You cannot use the following address areas (private addresses):
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
Only for direct ISDN connection with SAP:
If you do not have your own official IP address SAP can assign it to you for accessing the SAPNet - R/3 Frontend and SAP Service Marketplace (applies to dial-up connections only; for Internet connections, this is the responsibility of your provider).
If you have any of the following questions:
- How do I fill in the remote connection data sheet?
- How can I obtain an IP address?
- Which type of remote connection is most suitable for us (ISDN, provider, X.25, Frame Relay) ?
- What type of software and hardware do I need to establish remote access?
- Questions about using a firewall or address translation
- What kind of costs can I anticipate?
- Which are the prerequisites for an SNC/VPN connection to SAP using the Internet?
