SAP PM Budget Control

Updated Jan 13, 2020

If someone out there knows how to control or have a solution on how to control your budget within the SAP PM environment, please let me know

I don't want to go the Release Strategies way. You constraint yourself here with releases of the PM order, and the other is the way of creating an internal network for a specific PM order type, or you can create a WBS for all PM-related work.

If someone know of another process, please contact me on mosdjjs@yahoo.com

We have not used Budgeting in PM -- but rather only through PS. There is a function though to link all PM activity to an investment management profile - though I am not very familiar with it. There are config settings that allow the PM orders to automatically link to an IM -- so there is no extra work for the person creatin gthe PM order. Best to read the help info on PM-IM linking.

First question though is -- do you want to really 'control' the PM orders through budgeting? Are you going to stop repairing equipment for production because you hit the budget limit on the 27th of the month? With the PS budget profile you can also just issue warnings when the budget is near/exceeding the limit.

Do you hear about the Maintenance Cost Budgeting (MCB). It may be one of SAP standard solution from Solution Composer. Maintenance Cost Budgeting (MCB). You use this business process to build a budget for maintenance activities related to technical assets i.e. Functional Locations and/or Equipment. The budget can be either zero or history based. Process Steps: 1.Verify ERP master data 2.Extract cost simulation data from ERP 3.Create and assign top level budget 4.Create maintenance budget 5.Approve budget 7.Retract budget data to ERP I'am looking also what the best business practice on how to control the budget in PM, some recommended using the PS. I'am working in Power Utilities here in Saudi and we are in the BBR Reassessment phase and going to the realization phase in the next few weeks. In case you have some information to share in this regards.

I believe u already know about KO22 on PM Order, and not satisfy with it.
Try to using WBS (without PS if you dont want to use PS).
Assign budget to this WBS, and then PM order assign to this WBS.
Active budget checking is available in PM Order with WBS.

ANother thing, IM-PM, as alsready mentioned. You can distribute (IM52) budget from IM Program to the Order (can be Internal Order or PM Order)
