On an old machine running Win98SE, the speaker is not in the system tray. I just wiped the disk clean and re-installed Win98SE and now no speaker. How do I get it back please?
Open Control Panel, then Multimedia. Under the Audio tab place a check in the box for "Show volume control on the taskbar."
Been awhile but probably similar to xp. Control Panel > sound and audio devices > volume tab > place dot in "put speaker icon in system tray" or something such as that likely
Seems to me that you'll need to re-install the audio driver. If you wiped the hard drive clean and you had Win XP, it will often re-install those drivers for you automatically. Win '98 SE isn't quite so user friendly and
