First of all you have to make a parameter in data foundation of IDT. Please remember it will be visible to the end user at the time of the execution of the report.Next you have to make a required table in Data foundation in IDT.You have to use the following compositions for the SQL that is required in the resulting table.
SELECT <col1>,<col2>... FROM <viewname> ('PLACEHOLDER'=('$$IP_PSTNG_DATE$$',<prompt>))
In the above composition you will be able to find a keyword as a placeholder.While creating the view you will create a input parameter .i.e. '$$IP_PSTNG_DATE$$' and <prompt> that must be replace by the actual <prompt> that you have created above.And next you have to make your business layer with the help of resulting table.
