Let us look at the reasons for this error.
Cause 1: Incorrect SMTP Setting for Email
This error may arise due to incorrect SMTP settings.
Thus, check your SMTP settings first.
$mail->isSMTP(); // Set mailer to use SMTP $mail->Host = 'smtp.gmail.com'; // Specify main and backup SMTP servers $mail->SMTPAuth = true; // Enable SMTP authentication $mail->Username = 'firstname.lastname@example.org'; // SMTP username $mail->Password = 'password'; // SMTP password $mail->SMTPSecure = 'tls'; // Enable TLS encryption, `ssl` also accepted $mail->Port = 587; // TCP port to connect to
Important: You have to check the SMTP and PORT settings.
$mail->Port = 587; & $mail->SMTPSecure = 'tls';
Doing this might solve the issue.
