How can we exports Windows Event logs by your Afaria Support Representative as part of the troubleshooting process for an Afaria incident?
Solution:
To provide a full unfiltered Windows Event Viewer Log:
On the Afaria Server, open Event Viewer
Expand the 'Windows Logs' folder, so the Application, Security and System log types can be seen
Right click on the log type you wish to export as requested by your Support Representative
Select 'Save All Events As..'
A dialog box will appear for you to select a Save location
Keep the 'Save as type' selected as 'Event Files (*.evtx) unless directed to provide an alternative format such as Comma Separated
Save the file and provide to Support for further analysis
To provide a filtered Windows Event Log:
On the Afaria Server, open Event Viewer
Expand the 'Windows Logs' folder, so the Application, Security and System log types can be seen
Click on the log type you wish to export as requested by your Support Representative, so the events appear in the viewer
Select the action to 'Filter Current Log...'
A dialog box will appear to select filtering options
Specify filtering options as requested by your Support Representative, for example sometimes only specific event levels or sources are needed
Click OK to confirm your selection
Select the action to 'Save Filtered Log File As..'
A dialog box will appear for you to select a Save location
Keep the 'Save as type' selected as 'Event Files (*.evtx) unless directed to provide an alternative format such as Comma Separated
Save the file and provide to Support for further analysis
