Printing in Warehouse Management Interview Questions and Answer

FAQ on Printing in Warehouse Management

Explanation about how does the printer determination work in the Warehouse Management?

You can influence the printer determination by means of numerous settings. First, the system searches for a printer in the table 'Assignments -> Printer -> Warehouse movements' in the print control. Here you can store a printer for different warehouse movements where both masked entries for the source and destination storage type and individual storage types are permitted.

The system always selects the more specific entry. That is, for example, if a transfer order item has source storage type 001 and destination storage type 916, the system first searches for an entry with source storage type 001 and destination storage type 916. If this entry does not exist, the system searches for the entry with source storage type '***' and destination storage type '916'. If this entry does not exist as well, the system searches for the entry with source storage type 001 and destination storage type '***'. If it does not find an entry here, it uses the entry with source storage type '***' and destination storage type '***'. If the system finds a printer in this table, it terminates the printer determination here. You can also set the 'Printer src.st.type' flag. In this case, the system searches for a printer in tables 'Assignments -> Printer -> Picking area' and 'Assignments -> Printer -> Storage type'. If no printer has been determined, the system uses the default printer stored in the user master. If no printer is stored here as well, the system uses the printer LP01 by standard.

Which forms are made available by SAP in the standard system?

The forms are stored for the corresponding print code like the spool code, however, they can be overridden like the spool code by entries in 'Assignments -> Printer -> Warehouse movement'.

SAP provides the following forms (depending on the ):

Form Meaning

  • LVSBINPRINT Storage bin labels
  • LVSETIKETT Picking labels
  • LVSHULABEL Print HU label
  • LVSKOMMIL1 Picking list for several TOs
  • LVSKOMMIL2 Picking list for several TOs
  • LVSLABELS Picking labels
  • LVSLEINHALT SU Table of Contents
  • LVSLESCHEIN SU slip
  • LVSLETASCHEIN SU TO slip
  • LVSPICKLIST Picking list with totals
  • LVSSAMMELKANBAN Print Transfer Order List
  • LVSTAEINZEL Print TO Individual Item
  • LVSTALISTE Print Transfer Order List
  • LVSTOSOLO Print TO Individual Item
  • LVSTOSOLOKANBAN Print TO Individual Item
  • LVSUMBUCHEN Posting change notice

Which print report should be defined in Customizing?

Up to an d including 3.1I report RLVSDR00 is available for individual printing and report RLKOMM00 is available for the combined printout. As of 4.0, report RLVSDR40 should be used for the individual print and report RLKOMM40 should be used for the combined printout.

How can I determine the sequence of the printed items when printing?

Up to and including 3.1I, this is possible for both print reports via the maintained sorting indicators in the print indicator. The following possibilities exist:

In the case of the print of pick lists:

1 Sorting according to source storage bin within a ref.#
2 Sorting according to destination storage type within a ref.#
3 Sorting according to material number within a ref.#
4 Sorting according to TO item number within a ref.#
5 Sorting according to source storage bin for all ref.#
6 Sorting according to destination bin location for all ref.#
7 Sorting according to material number for all ref.#
8 Sorting according to transfer order item number for all ref.#
9 ,10 empty

For the normal transfer order printing:

1 No particular sorting, that is, according to TO item
2 Sorting according to source storage type and source storage bin
3 Sorting according to destination storage type and destination storage bin
4 Sorting according to material number
5 - 10 empty

As of 4.0, it is possible to define the print-Customizing-individual sorting profiles freely. These are, however, only used for the multiple processing (print of pick lists). During normal transfer order printing, sorting is always made according to TO item as of 4.0. If a sorted print is desired, the items of the transfer order must be sorted accordingly. For this, read 388828.

Under which circumstances are SU slips printed?

The SU slips are not printed for every activity.

You can store further forms for SU TO, SU slip and SU table of contents in the print control for storage units (IMG path 'Logistics Execution -> Warehouse Management -> Storage units -> Activities -> Define print control'). The items for 'Definitions -> Print code' and 'Assignments -> Printer -> Warehouse movement' contain further views for the additional SU slips. For each form, you can activate and deactivate the print here. In addition, you can store the spool data for each SU slip.

However, the print of the SU slips only occurs under clearly defined prerequisites. You can see from the following table whether an SU slip is printed. An 'x' in the column means that a slip is printed when the corresponding movement occurs.

At what time can you print and what are the pros and cons of the different print times?

The printing can occur at three different times:

' ' Before the update of the transfer order
'X' After the update of the transfer order
'Y' Later through a manual start

If setting Y is selected, no print output is triggered when creating the transfer order, however, the print-relevant parameters are determined so that a reprint is possible via transaction LT31.

The settings ' ' and 'X' guarantee an immediate printing during the creation of the transfer order. With this, the printing is either triggered online (setting ' ') or only during the update (setting 'X'). The second option has the advantage that the transfer order is only actually printed if it was updated on the database as well. In the case of an update termination during the TO update, no printing is triggered.

On the other hand, printing during the update can result in the TO-update being prevented by an error in the printing and with that, the TO must be created again.

How is the label printing set?

The label printing is possible as of 4.0. In order to print labels, a form must be defined for the label printing in the print indicator. This can also be controlled by making entries in the table 'Printer assignment --> Stock movement'.

The labels can be issued on a separate printer that you can define under 'Printer pool/Label' in the print control, for example, because other paper should be used. This can also be overridden with entries in the 'Printer assignment --> Stock movement' table. In addition, you can determine how many labels should be printed for each transfer order item as well as defining an individual label 'Spool indicator'. For the label number, you have the following options, with which the quantity refers to the settings 0 - 2 on the transfer order source quantity. With a complete stock removal, labels are thus printed for the complete quantity:

0 = number labels = quantity in alternative unit of measure
1 = number labels = quantity in base unit of measure
2 = number labels = quantity in changed MU + Rest in Basis MU
3 = number labels = 1st (Per TO item, quantity in changed MU)
