SAPUI5 vs OpenUI5
SAP provide SAPUI5 and OpenUI5 delivery options for our UI development toolkit. Both are very closely related but also some difference.
Below are some major differences between SAPUI5 and OpenUI5:
OpenUI5 is open source which is free for users to use whereas SAPUI5 is SAP integrated SAP product
OpenUI5 is released under the Apache 2.0 license whereas SAPUI5 does not has a separate license because it is not a separate SAP product.
SAPUI5 is integrated with the following products, for example :
- SAP HANA
- SAP Cloud Platform
- SAP NetWeaver 7.4 or higher (included in the UI technologies (SAP_UI) component)
- User interface add-on for SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.3x
Also, SAPUI5 provides many additional libraries such as smart controls and charts.
