This runtime error points to a too big work load for the database when executing the delete step of SAP TM archiving. The default settings for SAP TM archiving objects do not define values for the Maximum Number of Data Objects. As result the system is collecting as many documents as possible, until the Maximum Size in MB (default: 500 MB) is reached for the archive file.

The recommendation is in general to not to collect more than 50,000 (fifty thousand) documents into one archive file. In addition, the system should do a COMMIT WORK after having deleted 25,000 (twenty five thousand) documents.

These two values need to be defined in the archiving objects of SAP TM:

    • Transaction "Archiving Object" (AOBJ) --> Select relevant SAP TM Archiving Object¬†
    • Click Customizing Settings in the Dialog Structure¬†
    • Define the Maximum Number of Data Objects in the section Archive File Size (recommendation: 50,000)
    • Define the Commit Counter in the section Settings for Delete Program (recommendation: 25,000)
    • In case the delete step of SAP TM archiving is still failing, these values need to be further reduced.
    • The Commit Counter should be a divider of the Maximum Number of Data Objects.
