Define Selection Rules

In this SAP HR (Human Resources) tutorial we will learn the step-by-step procedure to define Selection Rules in the SAP system with proper screenshots.

What are Selection Rules in SAP?

Selection rules in SAP HR determine if a specific day is a working day, weekend (Saturday, Sunday), or public holiday. Selection rules will be only applicable when SAT / SUN is a day off.

How to Define Selection Rules in SAP?

Please follow the steps below to define the selection rules in your sap system:

Enter t-code SPRO in the SAP command field and Execute it as shown in the image below.

Next click on the SAP Reference IMG button to next screen

Now navigate to the following SAP menu:

SPRO > SAP Reference IMG > Time Management > Work schedules > Day types > Define selection rules.

Next on  Change View "Definition Rules for Day Types": Overview screen, you will see the list of all previously defined selection rules in your SAP system.

Click the New Entries button to define new selection rules in your SAP system.

Next on the new entries screen enter the rule key, day type for weekday and holiday class (D.ty.wkdy), day type for Saturday (D.typ.Sat.), and day type for Sunday (D.typ.Sun).

Once all the details are entered click the Save icon to save the configuration of new selection rules

Next, select your Customization Request id and press Enter to proceed

A message Data was saved will appear at the bottom of your screen

Data was saved

You have successfully defined new selection rules in your SAP system.
