Hello Experts,I want to know that what is INDEX? What is the difference between INDEX and Cluster index? If anyone from you guys aware about it then please share the related information with me here.
Thanks in Advance!
Index is a database object which can be used reduce the searching process and enforce uniqness and cluster index is a physically sorts the rows in the table in this only one cluster index.
Indexing means like suppose our book having index before entering into the book that is easy to us to search the topics easier and faster. Like that index in oracle means before gng to table which is having millions of records that is make us to easily searching and getting the records. Index having two columns one is column name and second one is address coming to cluster index it is mainly used for put the records in order It is automatically created for primary key. One table having only one cluster index.
There is no concept called "Cluster Index or Clustered Index in Oracle". Its a SQL Server Concept. The concept is that "Storing the whole table data in the structure of Index". In oracle, we are having "INDEX ORGANIZED TABLES" (IOT) which will be synonym for Clustered Index in SQL Server. Apart from the above, there is something which can cause confusion. We are having a Concept of CLUSTERS in Oracle (cluster is a separate object in Oracle). In that cluster also, we can create Index. That is widely called as Cluster Index. But this index is just a Normal Btree Index created on a Cluster.
