Editable ALV Field issue

I upload a file and display in an ALV Grid.
There are 2 Editable fields BUOM and SRG.
I tried to manually populate the SRG with BCN, it would only accept B as this was the visible position(coz of F4 button). I had to drag the column size to make the field bigger,then I could add all 3 characters. Same for BUOM, initially, I could only enter 'E' rather than EA.

But this happens only some times, other times I am able to enter all 3 characters even though there's only 1 visible position. Its totally random. Any idea how to solve this issue?

Maybe you have the col width optimize option checked on the layout? The is just guessing but maybe if there is no visible row with a value for that column and the name of the column is short that's what is changing the output size to 1?
Try adding a manual output size on the fieldcat for those fields, or disabling the CWIDTH_OPT option on the layout.

hi i am novice for abap.My organization give me one task to perform that is create an report for assigning component and the quantity to the product in which at the output side on first screen only material number and the production order no should be display and after entering, the second screen should display the production activity, component allocated and quantity. but but only first product quantity should be editable.
so if u give some guidelines or some idea then it would be highly helpful for me.
