SAP_DROP_TMPTABLES report gives Error in the RFC communication: RFC destination xxx does not exist.

Hello SAP Experts,

While running the report SAP_DROP_TMPTABLES in order to delete the hierarchy tables on a BW system an error Message STREX005 occurs:

Error in the RFC communication: RFC destination xxx does not exist.

Regenerating the error:

Please follow the below steps in order to re-generate the error:

  • First, run the SAP_DROP_TMPTABLES report in transaction SE38.
  • Now choose 'Temp Hierarchy Table (02/08)' in the selection table
  • Select 'Execute' button

  • After clicking the execute button you will notice the error: Error in the RFC communication: RFC destination xxx does not exist.

    Please follow the below instruction in order to resolve this error:

    • First of all please make sure that the latest version of SAP doc 1701123 has been applied into your BW system.
    • Now display table RSADMINA in transaction SE16.
    • Also, make sure the none of the TREX_RFC_DEST entry maintained if your BW system do not connect to a BWA
    • Now reset the buffer for table RSADMINA with ok code: /$tab rsadmina. Please do it in all the application server

    Report SAP_DROP_TMPTABLES helps user to delete temporary tables from BWA or from the SAP HANA database since SAP Doc1701123.

    In order to judge whether BW system has a connection to BWA the reports checks the configuration in table RSADMINA. And if the BW system without BWA bu mistake has a BWA RFC entry maintained in this table then the SAP_DROP_TMPTABLES report will try to access the BWA RFC destination and will issue STREX005 error.
