Goods Receipts and Goods Issue both deal with the inventory only.

Goods Issue in SAP

A Goods Issue is defined as a physical outbound movement of goods or materials from the warehouse or it is the issue of physical goods or materials from the warehouse. It results in a decrease in stock from the warehouse. For e.g goods are issued from the store to the production department to make the product.

The following kinds of Good Issue are considered in the SAP System:

  • Issues to a cost center or project
  • Material staging for production
  • Delivery of goods to customers

Goods Receipt in SAP

A Goods receipt is defined as a physical inbound movement of goods or materials into the warehouse or it is the receipt of material in the store or the receipt of stock from the vendor or manufacturer. All good receipt results in an increase of stock in the warehouse. For e.g receipt of the produced product into stores.

The following kinds of goods receipts are considered in the SAP System:

  • Goods receipt with reference to a purchase order
  • Goods receipt with reference to a production order
  • Goods receipt with reference to a delivery
  • Other goods receipts (without reference)
