The Performance Assistant does not work if you are using an R/3 system with release 4.6B and lower as well as SAPGUI 4.6B and higher.
When it is started, 2 messages are generated in two separate trace files - in an RFC trace file and in a dialog trace file.
These files inform us:
- that F1SRV16X.EXE or F1SRV32X.EXE file could not been found in directory which is pointed in RFC-destination F1_HELP_SERVER or F1_HELP_SERVER_32 or F1_HELP_SERVER_40 (transaction sm59);
- that F1SRV16X.EXE could not been started;
- that F1SRV16X.EXE or F1SRV32X.EXE file is found, but it could not display the help-information.
Solution
Selection between the Performance Assistant and a modal window can be done in SAPGui through the menu: Help -> Settings.
New tool for working with Performance Assistent is implemented with release 4.6C. Old tool is not supported any more.
For R/3 system with release lower or equal 4.5B and SAPGUI with version 4.5B and lower, the setting 'in Performance Assistant' or 'in modal window' is possible.
For R/3 system with release lower or equal 4.6B and SAPGUI with version 4.6B and higher, only the setting 'in modal window' is possible.
For R/3 system with release 4.6B and higher and SAPGUI with version 4.6B and higher, the setting 'in Performance Assistant' or 'in modal window' is possible.
