The prime role of the Senior Business Intelligence developer is to design, develop, enhance, maintain, secure and administer overall BI environment across the enterprise. The role is also responsible to provide subject matter expertise and support all strategic BI environments and data warehouses.
As a senior member of the BI team, the incumbent is expected to provide leadership, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the team and mentor junior members of the team in achieving service excellence
Function of the employees role is to:
Promote the use of Business Intelligence (BI) tools and concepts across D+H and identify solution opportunities within Business Intelligence area.
Provide support and expertise to the user community within D+H to assist them to better utilize Business Intelligence.
Work with cross-functional groups to understand reporting requirements and conduct insightful analysis.
Analyze multiple solution options and based on current and emerging technologies, provide recommendation on methods to reduce costs, improve performance and availability and reduce administration time.
Design and implement multi-dimensional models, including the construction of Data View, Dimensions, and Cubes while adhering to enforced development methodologies.
Responsible to design, supervise, develop and implement BI solutions.
Work with internal resources during development phases to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer
Prepare all necessary documentation that clearly describes solution and Meta data.
Monitor, tune up and administer all BI Environments for quality and optimal performance purpose.
Actively participate in data mining and analytics at LOB and enterprise level
Debug, monitor and troubleshoot BI solutions to resolve production issues.
Mentor and train staff by sharing best practices and lessons learned from past projects.
Be aware of and comply with all corporate and department policies, procedures and standards that apply to your work area.
Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or other equivalent degree required although equivalent work experience may be accepted in substitution
6+ years of overall experience in any of the following reporting tools, with 3 years in MicroStrategy specifically:
o SAP Business Objects
o SQL Server Reporting Services 2005+, SSIS, SSAS
7+ years of design, analysis and implementation experience with relational databases like SQL Server and Oracle
Experienced in developing BI Solutions (reports, dashboards, scorecards), Data Warehousing, Data Mining and Analytics
Advanced knowledge of OLAP/MOLAP technologies and dimensional modeling
Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing methodologies and concepts, including but not limited to: star schemas, snowflakes, ETL processes, dimensional modeling and reporting tools
Strong understanding of the differences between OLTP and OLAP systems and the different physical modeling and design considerations needed
Solid understanding of an Operational Data Store, an Enterprise Data Warehouse, and Data Marts, and the purposes and functions within an organization
Knowledge of Kimball and Inmon methodologies is a plus
Knowledge of any of the following would be advantageous:
o Previous experience in Financial Services management, analysis and reporting
o Design and develop objects in Oracle Database
