Updated Apr 22, 2023

T-code DB12 in SAP

Transaction code DB12 in SAP is used to display the database parameters in the database system of an SAP system.

The t-code DB12 displays the database instance information and various statistics related to database parameters. It provides information on the database size, free space, tablespace details, backup history, and other parameters related to the database. It also allows you to monitor database performance and analyze potential performance issues.

T-code DB12 is mainly used by SAP Basis administrators to monitor and manage the database system of an SAP system. It can be executed in the SAP GUI or via the command line in the operating system.

Enter t-code DB12 in the SAP Command field and press enter to execute it

DB12

Next on Backup Catalog screen you can check the database parameters in the database system of an SAP system.

T-code DB13 in SAP

Transaction code DB13 in SAP is used to manage and schedule database backups for the SAP system.

With t-code DB13, you can schedule regular database backups to ensure the safety and recoverability of critical data in case of system failures or disasters. It allows you to define the backup strategy, backup types, backup destinations, and scheduling parameters based on your business requirements.

T-code DB13 also provides various tools for monitoring and analyzing the backup history and performance of the database backups. You can view the backup logs, check the status of backup jobs, and troubleshoot potential issues related to backup and recovery processes.

T-code DB13 is typically used by SAP Basis administrators and backup operators to manage the database backup process and ensure the availability and integrity of SAP system data.

Enter t-code DB13 in the SAP Command field and press enter to execute it.

DB13

Now on Jobs: DBA Planning Calendar screen you can manage and schedule database backups for the SAP system.

Conclusion

T-code DB12 and DB13 are both related to the management and maintenance of the database system in an SAP system. T-code DB12 is used to display the database parameters and performance statistics, while DB13 is used to schedule and manage database backups.

Both transactions are important for SAP Basis administrators to ensure the availability, performance, and to recover of critical data in an SAP system.
