Developers Access key Help or alternative solutions

Hello SAP Experts

I am a student who recently installed SAP (Systems Applications and Products). Previously it asked me to renew the license so after 30days I changed the system date to be able to log on to r/3 system. Now that I can log on to system. I created a copy user of ddic when I try to create an ABAP program. It is asking me to enter an access key which I don't have. Can anybody help me with that or does anyone know how to work around the problem?

Thank you.

The "developer key" is a generated key which includes the installation
number, system number, the MAC-adresse of the network card etc. you need

    • a valid license installed
    • generate you user as developer with this license
    • generate an access key for the program

If you have no possibility to get a valid license you should try to
install the "Mini-SAP", with that installation there is a predefined
user that enables you to create programs.

    Hi Syed,

You are spposed to create a new user `sapuser` with profile sapall. And ogon with this user and try to execut some programs or create new programs...the sytem will prompt you for an ACCESS KEY.

You need to enter the accesskey and this will work forever.

But only for this user.  I dont have the access key now..somone from this group can share it. It starts with 35 and is a huge number.  But I am sure this will work.

Developer access key is depended to software installation number of the SAP software.
Each SAP customer has its own installation numbers, own software.

In SAP service site ,We can take the user access keys related to that installation number .

The user access key which is given by sandeep is only working for his SAP software.

    that is not true,
    mentioned key (36687663221261278694) most probably (1:10 000 000 000) wont work

dev key is generated from two variables:
    - user id
    - installation number

after you enter this key it is stored in SAP table DEVACCESS (you can check this table and if it has any entries you can try to use them, but it wont work if one of upper mentioned variables was changed after key was used)

you can generate developer key on
or you can look on google for "sap key generator" if you do not have access to

    Hi chaitanya,
I tried same in our landscape,it doesn`t work.
user access key depends on installation number.

  • 17 Jun 2009 6:09 am Guest

    Hi all,
The user access key works only with R/3 system which doesn`t have license applied.
    It works with testing systems.

SAPUSER woks with developer key 36687663221261278694 only for Z_* named programs. This works in 4.6, 4.7 and in ECC6.0 SP2 and ECC6.0 SP3.
BCUSER woks with developer key 29671482393151224771 in the MiniSAP.

But - those above mentioned keys do not work for function groups with S* named programs and so on.

For there are 3 types of keys:
1.License key (for the SAP system),
2.Developer key (enables the user to create/modify/remove programs and developer objects) and the
3.Program Access Key (enables a developer user to edit standard (SAP) programs (S*)).

And I guess, that there are two kinds of type 2 (Developer keys).

man kann aber folgenden Trick anwenden.
    1. Man öffnet das Programm, das man bearbeiten möchte - z.B.: SAPBC400WBS_GETTING_STARTED
    2. Man kopiert dieses Programm (rechte Maustaste - "Kopieren") nach Z_SAPBC400WBS_GETTING_STARTED
    3. Und sichert das im Paket $TMP

Danach kann man mit dem level1 Entwickler Schlüssel alles bearbeiten und entsprechend ändern etc.....

oh wonderful "trick" - its none

Usually its not enough to just change one of the S* programs etc. You can permanently debug and change the check program permanently which checks the modification key. I guess you need a few more ABAP skills to do it. If you are just starting to learn ABAP, you definetly do not need this. Stay with the existing S* stuff.

btw, with a few more tricks, its even possible to permanently remove the check for an existing developer key.

I know that, you have to set a breakpoint in the key calling function
