Stechies

The "Setup Early Watch Alert for SAP Solution Manager 4.0" tutorial.

After completing the session you will know how to prepare your SAP Solution Manager system and the connected systems for the processing of Early Watch Alerts.
Setup Early Watch Alert for SAP Solution Manager 4.0.

The SAP tutorial will show how to set up an early Watch Alert for a system which is connected to the SAP Solution Manager.

Sap Early Watch Alert: Benefits

You can fined an overview presentation about Early Watch Alerts (EWAs) on Sap Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/rkt-solman.
The presentation gives more details on the benefits of early Watch Alerts.

SAP Early Access Customer Relationship Management
First, the system for which Early Watch Alerts (EWAs) should be generated needs to be connected to the SAP Solution Manager. This can be done and checked in transaction SMSY.

System Landscape
Create a new system in transaction SMSY. The relevant steps are explained in other SAP Tutors.

Which you can find via SAP Service Marketplace via http://service.sap.com/rkt-solman.
Please see "System Landscape (SMSY) – creating Systems" and "System Landscape (SMSY) –Creating RFC Connections" for more details.

System CTA, Main Instance R/3 Server Change

In this example, an ECC 5.0 system named "TCE" has been registered and connected to the Solution Manager system via transaction SMSY. In the next steps, this system has to be assigned to a logical component.

Again, this is described by another SAP Tutor available on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/rkt-solman.

Logical Component Z_CTA Change
The system TCE was assigned as a Development system to the newly created Logical component "Z_SAPTUTOR_ECC".

Logical Component Z_CTA Change

For setting up the solution, transaction DSWP (or "SOLUTION_MANAGER") is used.

SAP Solution Manager: Active Solutions
Currently, only one solution named "SAP Tutor Solution" exists.

For the creation of a solution and its settings, there are also SAP Tutors on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/rkt-solman.

Change Solution Directory
The logical component Z_SAPTOR_ECC is assigned to the "SAP Tutor Solution".

Change Solution Directory
In the solution settings, Monday is specified as the processing day for Early Watch Alerts (EWAs), and the TCE system is tagged for producing Early Watch Alerts (EWAs).

Now the SDCCN of system TCE can be directly accessed. Click on the Execute icon to access the SDCCN of system TCE.

Service Data Control Center
This takes you to system TCE. You see the task overview within the SDCCN of system TCE. During the (remote) activation of the SDCCN, two new tasks have been created. The "Maintenance Package" task guarantees that the EWA sessions that have been defined in the Solution Manager for system TCE are carried out. When this "Maintenance Package" task runs next time, it will (beside other actions) access the Solution Manager and look if any EWA session have been scheduled. These session would show up as new tasks in the SDCCN.
For the task handling of the SDCCN, SAP Tutors exist on SAP Service Marketplace. They can be accessed via http://service.sap.com/rkt-solman.
