The fourth module of the Solution Manager Tutorial.

So far, we have covered  the Project Preparation and the Business Blueprint phases of the Solution Manager implementation process.

We are now in the Realization phase and will proceed with the Testing. Press Enter to start.

 

 

Course Overview
In this module, I will show you how to organize and perform tests for your Solution Manager project.
The quickest way to navigate through the course is the Enter key
. I recommend, however, that you perform the steps as I demonstrate them to you.

Double- click on “Test Plan Management”
in the user menu to start the transaction.

First, you will create a test plan. A test plan is the set of all test cases which you need for a particular test phase. Click on the Creation icon.

You create  a test plan for your Solution Manager project “demo_tutor”. Click where shown to assign the test plan to a Solution Manager system role, different systems will be accessed.
Note: Later you can also change the system role of the test plan. This can also change the system role of the test plan. This can cause inconsistencies in the test result of a test  plan  which has already been processed , because now test cases in other systems are accessed. Only change the system role in exceptions.

Double click on system role “Quality Assurance System”.

Enter “iTutorial” as test plan title, then press the Tab key.

Create Test Plan
The structure displayed is your project structure, which you have created during the Business Blueprint phase. This project structure now serves as a basis for a process- oriented test plan. Select the scenario “Inbound Telesales” by marking the checkbox next to it. The system will now copy all test cases and transactions assigned to this scenario and its processes.

To generate your test plan according to the selection you have made, click on the “Generate” icon or press F8.
Note: You can change your test plan later. You can, for example, select additional test cases or transactions and regenerated your test plan, without losing the status information for test cases which you have already run.

This is the resulting main view. As you can see, the test plan “iTutorial” is displayed. You can now create more test plans, or you can edit, copy or display existing test plans. We will continue with creating test packages for the test plan. Press Enter to continue.

Test cases are collected in test packages for the tester. A test package is based on a test plan. Test cases are chosen from the test plan for the test package. If you have created a test plan for a SAP Solution Manager project, you can also select transactions, for a test package, from the test plan. I have already marked the test plan just created for you. Click on “Test Packages” to create a package for the test plan.

Click on the “Create Test Package” icon.

In the test plan structure, select the process “Account Identification” for your test package. All subordinate elements will also be selected.

Press the “Generate” icon or F8 to generate your test package according to your selection.

Enter the Package Title “Test Account Identification” and press Enter.

What you see now is the test package you have just created. It has already been selected. To assign testers to this package, press  the “Assign Testers” icon.

Enter “train-00” to assign this user to the package, and press Enter to continue.

You have assigned the user “train-00” to the Test Package “Test Account Identification”. To proceed, press Enter.

After having created a test plan and test packages, we will now change our role and work from the tester’s perspective. To start the testing transaction, double click on “Testing”.

To select the test package “Test Account Identification”, double click on its row in the worklist.

In the test package overview, you can see all test cases and transaction assignments.

To test the assigned transaction “Interaction Center WinClient”, click on the highlighted button.

You can see here is the entry screen of the transaction in your test system. In a function test, you can now check whether the transaction works the way it should. Now go back.

To set the status for the test case of the transaction “Interaction Center WinClient”, click on the highlighted icon.

In the Status maintenance view, set the status via possible entries help (F4).

Confirm your selection with Enter.

The transaction didn’t work as it should, therefore click on the “Problem Messages” tab to enter a problem message for this test case.

Enter “Problem with transaction” in the short text field and confirm with Enter.

Enter “Problem description” in the area for message texts and press Enter to continue.

If your message has been created successfully, the system displays this dialog window. Confirm with Enter.

To return to your main view, press F3 or click on the “Back” icon.

We will now change our perspective again. I will show you how a test organizer can monitor test progress.

Double click on “Test Plan Management” in the menu again.

Press the “Status Info System” button.

 

 

 

Status Info System
You can analyze the status for one test plan or several test plans. The status of one test plan is usually the result of a particular test. Test plan-independent status analysis  combine the results of several test plans, and are the overall result of a complex test. In this tutorial we want to analyze the test plan just created. Enter “iTutorial” here and press Tab.

To perform a status analysis of the selected test plan, click on the “Status analysis” button.

 

 

 

Status Analysis Test Plan “iTutorial”
The test plan structure has been expanded to get an overview of the test results so far. To get an overview with more details of the test plan, click on “Hierarchy List”.

 

 

Status Analysis
In this overview you can see more details of the test plan, e.g. the test case description, notes made and the change history of the test case status. You can select the details of the information displayed via the “Settings” menu. You can send this status analysis to other system user for their information, or save it in the system or a local file for documentation purpose. To leave this overview, go back.
