Define Screen Layout Rule

This tutorial explains the step-by-step process for how to define screen layout rules in SAP asset accounting. 

What are Screen Layout Rules?

The screen layout rules describe the status of various fields in the SAP asset master record. It determines whether any specific field is mandatory entry field, optional entry fields, or suppressed completely.

Screen layout rules for assets are defined via individually selecting copy as a function from the respective default asset screen layouts provided by SAP.

How to create Screen Layout rules in SAP?

Please follow the steps below in order to define screen layout rules in SAP asset accounting:

Step 1) execute t-code SPRO in the SAP command field

Step 2) Next click on the SAP Reference IMG button.

Step 3) Now navigate to the following menu path on Display IMG screen

Financial Accounting – Asset Accounting – Organizational Structures – Asset classes and click on “Create Screen Layout Rules“.

Step 4) Next select the required screen layouts as per your requirements and click the Copy As icon.

Step 5) Next update the following information

  • Screen Layout Rule: Enter a new name for the screen layout rule that specifies in SAP.
  • Name of Screen Layout Rule: Enter a new description for the screen layout rule

Step 6) Once you have updated all the information click the Save button to save the new configured screen layout rules.

Step 7) Next select your Customization Request id and press Enter to continue.

You have successfully defined new screen layout rules in SAP.
