Define Splitting Structure in SAP

This SAP CO tutorial will guide you to step-by-step process define new Splitting Structure in your SAP system with proper screenshots.

What is Splitting Structure?

Splitting is a process in SAP that is used for assigning activity independent plan / actual costs, both planning and secondary of a cost center to the individual activity types within that cost center.

A splitting structure contains single or multiple assignments in which the user store splitting rules for the corresponding cost element(s) or cost element groups. A user can restrict the selection of cost elements or cost element groups, as well as the activity types on which the costs are split.

How to Define Splitting Structure in SAP?

Please follow the steps below to define object link type in your SAP system:

Execute t-code SPRO in the SAP command field and execute it.

On the next screen click the SAP Reference IMG button to proceed to the next screen.

Now navigate to the following SAP IMG path:

Planning > Allocations > Activity Allocation > Splitting > Define Splitting Structure

Next on the Change View "Object Link Type Definition": Overview screen you will see a list of previously defined Object Link Typeson your SAP system.

Next, click the New Entries button to define a new splitting structure.

Next, enter the following details to configure the splitting structure as shown below in the image:

  • Structure: two-digit unique code for the new splitting structure
  • Text: Enter a short description for the new splitting structure

Details

Once all the details have been entered click the Save button to save the new configuration of the splitting structure.

Now select your Customization Request id and press Enter to go to the next screen.

Next, a message Data was saved will be displayed on the bottom of your screen.

You have successfully defined a new Splitting Structure ST in your SAP system.
