TR-6 challan is used for payment of any amount under accounting code given in accounting directory related to customs duty assessments; say customs duty, MOT etc.

GAR-7 is used for payment of Central Excise duties and service tax.

whenever money is deposited into PLA then the TR6 challan should be updated. why because when we pay money to govt we pay with attaching the TR6 challan. so in sap we do it thru J1IH. so in sap first we do money deposit with F-02 for eg then the document number note down and open J1ih and giving that document number we do update the TR6 CHALLAN.

It is nothing but indicating Duty Challan Validity that means after Challan valid over then need to pay Interest amount along with Customs Duty.
