I have my development group asking to make a system copy of the DEV server to a new sandbox in order to do some testing.
Issue is, they do not want to release the transports in the DEV system. If I make a copy of the system without all TP's released, the new sandbox will not carry over all the functionality.
Now I read the following:
As I've already mentioned early jut copy/restore you DB an copy all content from /usr/sap/trans temp server to your new server.
Yes, of course only released TR will be at trans dir, but also import buffer and config of your STMS.
And also you can copy from usrsap<sid>SYSglobal - all JOB logs
Is this correct?
Is the best practice to release the TP's?
Would this workaround be valid?
Create a full offline backup of the dev. Backup the buffer. Release all the transports manually. Create the system copy export. Then restore the server from the full offline backup and restore the buffer.
But will that work? My sandbox will be out of sync...not that it needs to be.
