The Oracle ZFS Storage Appliances are really good as well. The interface
protocols are included in the purchase price, so you get NFS, CIFS, FC,
iSCSI, etc. The price is very competitive, and performance is excellent.
If you are looking for performance, reliability, Durability, scalability and no point of failure system then you go EMC.
IMHO when it comes to which is/are the best unified storage systems @Mike Walker stated what should be the obvious "it depends" .
There are many unified storage solutions including those from Dell, EMC, Fujitsu, HDS, HP, IBM, NetApp, Oracle and many others, not to mention the various software solutions that can be "tin wrapped" e.g. deployed on a commodity white box hardware or as a virtual storage appliances. For example there are the various ZFS based (e.g. FreeNAS, SoftNAS, CloudByte among many others) as well as various Microsoft Storage Server based solutions.
However besides simply stating who or what the solutions are, or their speeds and feeds to play buzzword bingo, how about defining what the needs, requirements are for a unified storage system to help determine what would be best?
